Hello, everyone! My hope is that this site is used not only for fun, but I want these resources to be used consistently. This is a great way to supplement what we learn in the classroom! By using this site a little bit everyday, I guarantee that scores can be improved. It also really shows that you are dedicated to learning and working hard!
A little about my background: I grew up in the Milwaukee and surrounding area all my life. I attended UWM as an architecture major before I realized that teaching was what I really wanted to do. Between student teaching and field work, I've had experience teaching in most grade levels between 1st through 8th grade. During my time in college I also worked as a teacher preparing high school students for college and providing extra instruction where needed. On the side, I also worked as a line therapist for students with autism. I've been at Atlas for 3 years now, and I love it. All of these experiences have turned me into the teacher I am today.
My goals as a teacher go beyond the basic 5th grade content. I work rigorously with students to teach them HOW to think and HOW to make sense of the world around them. I teach them to think for themselves. I teach them to strive to learn for themselves, and not simply for a prize. I provide instruction in a manner that meets each student where they are at, and pushes them to the next level. In addition to that, I also focus quite a bit on students developing their character. After all, we are all equal partners of a team working on creating strong, successful, and hardworking individuals!
If you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to call or email me.
